Gannongate: It's worse than you think
The plot thickens every day with fake reporter/escort Jim Gannon. When the story first broke, people were wondering how this guy with no real journalism background and asking softball questions could get White House access. I mean Talon News, the outfit Gannon was representing was not even a "real" news organization. Oh and of course Gannon is not his real name. Jim Guckert is his real name. But for sanity sake he shall remain Gannon in my book. Talon basically took White House press releases and reported them verbatim as "news". Well - come to find out Talon News did not come into existence until April 2003. Gannon initially received clearance to the White House through GOPUSA. GOPUSA is a right-wing outfit based in guess what state? You got it. Texas.
Thank you Armstrong Williams. You finally started a long overdue debate about the Bush propaganda machine. It is amazing that right-wing politicians and media mouths claim there is a liberal media. Give me a fucking break. Here is an update from Eric Boehlert and Salon.com.
