Bush vacation cut short. Returns to Washington before expected trip to Gulf

Hurricane Katrina slammed the Gulf Region of the US last Sunday, August 28, 2005. 80%-90% of all coastal buildings from New Orleans to Biloxi Mississippi were utterly destroyed.

It is now Wednesday, August 31, 2005. President George W. Bush has yet to make public comments. He is supposed to have a 5pm press conference today but it is a little late George.

A real President would have made a public statement by last Monday, the morning after Katrina hit. Just to say his prayers were with the people and that officials on all levels were working to bring about search & rescue, clean-up and rebuilding efforts, etc.

A real President would have taken Marine One and visited the devastation locally by Tuesday.

This is not the first time a Bush was late in responding to disaster. Papa Bush was days late in responding to the effects of Hurricane Andrew. Papa Bush was also days late in acknowledging the LA Riots after The Rodney King verdict. George W delivered a half hearted initial response after the Asian Tsunami hit in late 2004. Come to think of it, W was on vacation that time as well.

And don't you just love how the White House is spinning the story that George is cutting his "working" vacation short? Boo fucking hoo. The day GW left for vacation in Crawford, 14 Marines were killed in Afghanistan. Remember that? Bush has been on more vacation than any other President in history. He has been in Crawford vacationing for almost 5 weeks straight already. Well thanks George for taking the time out and interrupting your much needed vacation time. (sigh) I'm Chaz Atlas and that's how I see it.
